8x8 Matrix Display for a Battery Monitor system
If you are displaying fewer than 8 batteries (or if you have pressed the button to only display temperature information), the last column of LED's displays the approximate temperature of the Battery Moniitor. This is from 0 to 40 degrees C, in 5 degree increments.
No. The 8x8 Matrix Display can display information on up to 16 batteries from 2 Battery Monitor units (8 ea). It just displays 2 batteries per column. In that case you will see 1 or 2 LED's lit. (1 if both batteries at at the same voltage.)
Battery Monitor unit
No. It's only purpose is to inform you when one or more batteries are discharged. This helps prevent you from damaging them by continuing to discharge them.
The resolution is determined by what number and voltage of batteries the Monitor unit is built for.
For example, the units built for 10 12v batteries have approximately a 1/6 volt resolution - at best. In reality, the readings from a battery will vary a bit above and below the expected value.
The resolution of a Battery Monitor is calculated by dividing the absolute maximum voltage that it's designed to handle, by 1024. So the 10 12V battery units are designed to allow batteries to charge at up to 16V each. So 10x16 = 160V. 160/1024 = 0.15625v resolution.
