Accident

20020507_Crash006.jpg

Pictures of when I rolled my Sparrow - at low speed in my own driveway....
(Well, it was downhill, around a curve, on a slanted, wet surface, with a wet grass hump in the middle, and I was going too fast...)

MKII Reg Remote LED bar4600 viewsI brought all the Regulating and Under Voltage indicator LEDS off the regs and mounted them on a little display in the cabin. This made it MUCH easier to see what was going on with the batteries.
Note: Do NOT use IDC connectors. They are not reliable and the wires keep falling out of them.

Melted brake line6274 viewsThis shows the damage under the hood, after removing the charger and upper battery.
At the back of the 2 lower rear batteries, you can see 2 brake lines. One black, one white.
Guess which one melted...
At the back right, is where the melted line melted other tubes and wires.
Note that the brake line did NOT touch either of the rear battery posts!

Front battery box with all 72 cells installed and connected3662 viewsCells connected with Busbars. I only had to use 2 short "jumper" cables to get everything connected.

MKIIC regs for under the seat batteries.2019 viewsThere are 7 MKIIC regs velcroed to the left side foot area. I put them here so I could see them, and it's hard to fit the MKIIC's under the seat.

Genset mounting2104 viewsRight side view of the genset rack. Note that it is easy to remove the rack and restore the Sparrow to it's original look. It only takes 6 bolts to remove the rack and put the rear panel back in place.Sep 23, 2007
